Become a Contributor on Verge of Verse
You’re a creative.
You’re a dreamer with drafts, and you’re determined to become a doer, but let’s be real — you’ve discovered that you need some direction on where to start.
You keep lists of ideas for articles you want to write, drafts of short stories you’ve either saved on your laptop or wrote down in your journals. There are bits and pieces of poetry you’ve scribbled down on napkins and post-it notes stashed somewhere in your bag or in your drawer. You’ve got pages upon pages of rough sketches you’ve etched into your sketchbook. Maybe you’ve illustrated storyboard ideas for a comic series, but need a little help with organizing the story. Perhaps you want to get feedback on a project that you’ve worked on, and you need a second pair of eyes to help you edit and revise your masterpiece. Or maybe you need a platform to showcase your talents, a space where you can publish your creative vision and share your ideas with the rest of the world.
If this sounds a lot like you, then you’ve come to the right place.
We want to work with new and emerging voices who are not afraid to break out of their shells, break down barriers, and inspire others to build their visions. We want to build a team of contributing writers who’ll come up with fresh, engaging content that gets our readers excited about living life to its fullest and motivates people to tap into their own creative side.
Pursue Your Passions. Cultivate your creativity.
Think you have what it takes to become a contributor on Verge of Verse? Then feel free to send us an email with a pitch about your post ideas (about 2-3 short paragraphs will do) and provide us with a brief writing sample so that we can get a feel for your writing style (a draft of a piece/project you’re currently working on, links to your personal blog, or a PDF of previous works you’ve published).
Along with your pitch, please tell us more about who you are. We want to get to know you:
- How did you discover Verge of Verse?
- Why do you want to become a contributor?
- What post ideas or project proposals are on your mind?
- How do you keep your creative juices flowing? (Tell us about your hobbies and passions. If you’re witty and clever, tell us a joke!)
- Include links back to your personal website, blog, social media handles, and/or your email address so that people can reach out to you if they wish after reading your piece.
If we find your ideas to be fresh, engaging, and offer unique and fascinating insights about life and/or the creative process, an editor will get in touch and let you know the next steps.
Send us your ideas at email@example.com.
Please note (a few disclaimers):
All submissions are completely voluntary. The copyright to your content still belongs to you. By becoming a contributor on Verge of Verse, you are giving us (the editors) permission to publish it on our digital platform and promote your work with others on our social media channels. Alas, we currently do not provide monetary payment to our contributors. We are still a start-up digital publication building ourselves from the ground up (currently Julianne has invested some of her own meager earnings to provide us with this lovely digital space). All revenue (if any) generated from advertisements on Verge of Verse will be used to pay for the upkeep and maintenance of the platform (e.g. domain registration, security and monitoring, annual renewal costs) and social media promotions to expand our audience reach. By becoming a contributor, you will have established a body of published work(s) for you to build your own writing and media portfolio, which you can showcase when you apply for school and future employment.
